Kate Brown: The Facts

Kate Brown is a partisan, career politician.  Now, as Secretary of State, she is in charge of functions many believe should be non partisan, like elections and audits.

Here is a video of Kate from 2006.  Is this the type of career politician we want in charge of our elections and auditing state government?

Kate Brown has been a politician since 1991 when she was appointed to the Oregon House of Representatives to represent SE Portland. In 1996, she was elected to the Oregon Senate.

In 1999, Brown was elected Caucus Leader by the Senate Democratic Caucus. The primary election role in that position is to raise money – a lot of money – in order to elect Democrats and control the Oregon Senate. And Kate Brown did just that, raising $3.85 million over eight years, primarily from special interest groups.

Over her 20 plus years as a politician, Kate Brown has amassed a questionable record and clearly demonstrated where her priorities lie.

Knute~ I’d like to know more about your “6-point” plan to reform the PERS. I am new to the program, relatively, and I do not have much in retirement and lost considerably through the stock market already. How much more do I need to lose to make you feel better about the system?

~From the Buehler Campaign – J.F., Knute by no means wants to vilify public employees – rather he wants to get PERS on a sustainable path so it is there when public employees need it most. He wants to help fix PERS so it is there for the long term and will benefit PERS members, schools, public safety and our many other vital public programs.

    Mr. Buehler,

In the Voter’s Pamphlet, you cite a six point plan to reform the Public Employees Retirement System.

What are those six points, and how do you propose implementing your plan as Secretary of State?

    Very respectfully,

    Douglas G. S.
